It began as the GODFATHER OF MATH, evolved into the GOODFATHER OF MATH. Now this. Go figure...

..................... Parrot Droppings (The Book Of Gus #3) .....................

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Flaubert always sides with minorities,
with "the Bedouin, the Heretic, the philosopher,
the hermit, the Poet."

In 1867,  forty-three gypsies pitched camp
in the Cours La Reine and aroused
much hatred among the Rouennais.

Flaubert delighted in their presence
and gave them money.

No doubt you wish to pat him on the head for this.
If he’d known he was gaining the approval of the future,
he’d probably have kept the money to himself.

The Case Against

What makes us want to know the worst?
Is it we tire of wanting to know the best
Does curiosity always hurdle self-interest?
Or is it, more simply that wanting to know the worst
is love's favorite perversion?

If  The Trial  had not been broadcast on  TCM  last night,
this page would have looked very different.

I only wish Orson Welles could have recited  January 1, 1920,
unarguably the most Kafka-esque day of the 20th Century
for more than four thousand American citizens.

The only way that argument is lost is by noting that
Franz Kafka's  The Trial  was not published
until 1925, one year after his death.

But instead–in '52
He married the daught
of Black Jack Bou

A royal wedding
of American true...

Inga Binga diddely-wix
if your  nineteen thirty-six

                                                Olympic date
                             was Kamelot
                instead of
Mr. Hate...

We'd all be
                 singing diddely do
                                             instead of sequeling WW2

And this
chosen lady
could have
been you

Footnotes
All of the images are from  A Brie Grows In Brooklyn.

All of the text is from somewhere south of my cerebellum.

I first used the term Slang-O-Metric as a genuine teenager,
as opposed to my present status as a 66 year-old teenager.

A slight variation of the term was trademarked by me
during the previous millennium.

The poem, which is a copyrighted LCSoL property, alters
all names to protect the good, the bad, and the ugliest.

Their House

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

© Oliverio
St. Francis Eugene
(2010)

the day the bod
becomes wormfood

is the day the sou
enters this house

full of white noise
but not a sound
is heard

pew housing
for 10,000 sous

he enters...
he mounts the pulpit
and doesn't talk
as much as
drone

pure nonsense
punctuated with
57 flavors of boredom

she enters...
from the rear
with vacuum
cleaner

vacuum noise
to drown the drone

she reaches the altar

together they empty
the hoover bag:

colors rainbow the room
with beethoven's 9th

sous reunite with bods
sans wormholes

ten thousand bodies
pruned with youth

all perfect of
skin and tooth

all shake hands

everyone dances
to the colors

Ode to John and Yoko

The next Beatles' page is  here.

On that day...

John Lennon met Yoko Ono
for the first time...
at a London
art gallery.

The first thing John did
was climb a ladder.

At the top of that ladder...
was one single word.

That word was YES.

The question has often
been asked:

Was Yoko the reason for
the Beatles break-up?

That answer is NO!

This Very Very Special Abrams Book Designer

________________________________________________________________________________________________

In 1983, she knew
that this author, Ariana–
with the mile long
Greek name—
would become
a modern
Goddess.

None of her fellow designers,
or any other Abrams employees,
believed
her.

Stassinopoulos

She told her colleagues that Ariana was easy
to work with  "If you remember to laugh at her jokes."

Then along came a little rich boy and prophecy
was fulfilled. Ariana became a Huffington.

Bejeweled and un-bewildered, the world
became her oyster.

What more does a modern Goddess need to do,
after legitimizing that puky sounding thing
called a Blog?

One more question: did the very, very special
Abrams Books designer know–in 1983–
that she was the future Mrs. CarPeo?

My Aunt Betty Did Not...

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Look like this
but I wish she did.

In the shadows of the  Whitestone Bridge,

One block from the last  exit on the Long Island side, there was  a house...
It was on a block with 47 other houses: 24 on each side.

All of the houses looked identical from the outside.

The "last exit" of the Whitestone Bridge (3rd Avenue)
was mis-named because the moment the exit was taken,
the first cross-street was  6th Avenue.

One of those houses was
147-75 6th Avenue.

That is where Linda and Paul lived.

Their photograph is below.

Every evening, they would sit down for dinner
with Mom and Dad and Baby Judith and
an alarm would sound at exactly 6PM.

But it was not an alarm clock. It was the telephone.

It was Aunt Betty who lived in the Bronx.
She would talk about this, that, or the other thing
but mostly about her parakeet, Lucky.

Baby Judith proved to be the best listener.
...
...
...

For the first forty years of my life, no woman–who did not
live at 147-75 6th Avenue–had a greater impact
on me than Aunt Betty.

I cannot write anymore about her at this time.

I just want to cry and think of her and her sister
who was my mother and her first niece
who was my sister and her brother-in-law
who was my father.

To write more about Aunt Betty...I vow to do so
but will close with this:

The most reliable car I ever owned was named Betty
because my Aunt's death resulted in an inheritance
that paid for a brand new car without
having to take out a loan.

I would like

to thank

Betty Draper

for inspiring

this page.

May she also

rest in peace.

She Wrote It's NOT My Comment!

Undoubtedly, a  Big Pharma  sales person
is responsible for the reddening
of this cartoon.

Probably,
someone who just returned
from an all-expenses paid week-long
tropical vacation for selling enough
prescription medicine to kill
half the population of Utah.

This page is
no exception:
  New Yorker
 cartoon pages
usually begin
w/ email  from
Mrs.CarPeo

________________________________________________________________________________________________
Footnotes
The hyperlink gets you to Wikipedia's BIG PHARMA CONSPIRACY THEORY
which states that there is collusion between pharmaceutical companies and
the medical profession to keep the population dependent on drugs.

It is not a theory: it is proven fact: the sensory perception of the general population
must be dulled by pharmaceuticals in order for those people to be suckered into
buying more drugs from the same pharmaceutical companies.

But as much as ten percent of the time, prescription drugs do much more good than harm!

The next New Yorker page is  here.

Letter And Photo From PAULETTE PETARD

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Paul
As a successful film producer,
I spend my days with people
such as Leonardo Dicaprio,
Brad Pitt,and Meryl Streep.

But none of those days
mean as much to me as our days
at the Lewis Carroll School of Logic.

I was a virgin when I went to college
but then a girl named Paulette met
a boy named Paul.

He became a CarPeo and then
there was a Mrs. CarPeo
who may or may not like
the picture of me
that I promised
to send you.

You always
wanted me
to shake my
moneymaker.

Unforgetably Yours,
Paulette Petard

Three Cameron Photographs But One Lie

The number of distinguished
19th Century female
photographers
can probably
be counted
on one
finger.

But her name

to it:

Julia
     Margaret
          Cameron
              (1815-1879)

Julia  photographed
Charles Darwin,
Lord Tennyson,
Henry W. Longfellow...

and these three women.

I apologize for not naming
any of them but the page
title has two parts
and the third
woman was
born in
1921.

Sixty-six years ago yesterday,
she spread her legs
real wide and out
popped a thing
that became
me!
