A Poem By Shel Silverstein + An Illustration By Cooper Edens

________________________________________________________________________________________________

SOMEBODY HAS TO

Somebody has to go polish the stars,
They're looking a little bit dull.
Somebody has to go polish the stars,
For the eagles and starlings and gulls
Have all been complaining
they're tarnished and worn,
They say they want new ones
we cannot afford.
So please get your rags
And your polishing jars,
Somebody has to go polish the stars.

Shel Silverstein
(2010)

Cooper Edens
(2003)

Shel Silverstein
may or may not
have been inspired
by the art of
Cooper Edens

and

Cooper Edens
may or may not
have been inspired
by the poetry of
Shel Silverstein

but

They both belong
on the same page!

Mr. Edens' illustration
is from his book
If You're Afraid of the Dark,
Add One More Star to the Night
