Before you can say I know Ring Lardner: he created MASH, you would be only half-correct because "Ring Lardner Jr." dropped the Jr. from his name before he created the fabled movie/television series.
Three things about the Lardner residence in Great Neck, New York:
1. The backyard was big enough for a baseball field.
2. Junior was often told stories by their next-door neighbor, the very inebriated Scott Fitzgerald.
3. Junior was featured in his father's humor columns as a boy named "Bill." Together, the Lardners became the role models for Calvin and Hobbes
