Who Is That Lady?

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Pedro Berruguete
The Last Supper
(≈1475)

Who is that lady on her knees?
A  down-goer or come-upper?
Did she serve the
Last Supper?

No question
could be hipper
Than to ask:
Was Jesus a good tipper?

  1. She, from Magdala, washed not the dishes.
Martha did that chore. But Mary, washed the feet,
not then, One considered elite, With tears sweet.
Her hair is what came down to dry the dust
    (as then one must)
and scent those there with nard to complete
Their welcome to the family seat

    1. This interpretation of The Last Supper
was credited not to Berruguete, per se,
      but to "Berreguete's Workshop."

PS: I like the jazzy rhythm of the Anonymous poem.

    2. I agree with you on the poem
and thanks for clarifying the accreditation.

The actual Last Supper feast would never have existed
were it not for the concept of "sin."
