A Poem By Paul Eluard

________________________________________________________________________________________________

I said it to you for the tree of the sea
For each wave for the birds in the leaves
For the pebbles of sound
For familiar hands
For the eye that becomes landscape or face
And sleep returns it the heaven of its colour
For all that night drank
For the network of roads
For the open window for a bare forehead
I said it to you for your thoughts for your words
Every caress every trust survives.
(1895-1952)

  1. Did the recipient
    ask the poet,
    do you not need
    to be with me?
    Pen in hand
    preblog,
    sounds so pretty.

  2. The recipient needs you
to be with him on the opposite coast
where he will pray for your arrival
    on a daily basis.

    1. Prayer did not
      hear the desperate
      cry. Did not heed
      need. Did not say
      She no longer
      wants to be alone
      and she knew
      all along, the right
      way to make
      what she wants,
      what he says
      that he wants,
      To really happen.
      The result is an
      insurmountable
      height of difficulty
      to speaks the word,
      "alone"
