This Is Not ... This Is ... [TIN/TI #32]

THIS IS NOT
a statue
of Jack Benny.

THIS IS
a statue
of  Jack Benny.

   The multi-talented man
in the bottom image
is world famous.

The scholarly man
in the top image
should be as famous
as Thomas Jefferson
but is not.

He is George Mason,
the forgotten Founding Father
who–in 1776–wrote
THE VIRGINIA
 DECLARATION OF RIGHTS
proclaiming

“That all men are born equally free
and independent, and have certain
inherent natural Rights… among which are
the Enjoyment of Life and Liberty,
with the Means of acquiring
and possessing Property, and pursuing
and obtaining Happiness and Safety.”

Later–that same year–nearly
the exact same words appeared in
THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE.

Thomas Jefferson denied all charges
of plagiarism by saying he was only
honoring the wisdom of
the wisest man
of his generation.
