Mother's Day Monolog With Defiance And Deference

________________________________________________________________________________________________

A plenitude of pastors
will proclaim
Thank God for your Mother

This morning,
A sometimes solitary me
will exclaim
(with my inner voice)
Let God thank me

(The beauty of that inner voice)
(is that I am the only one)
(who can hear it)

My Mother was with me
for barely twenty years

My Mother has been with God
for nearly fifty years

But I forgive God
for taking the Grace
out of my life

Grace Oliverio

(1921-1971)

There is no length long enough
to measure my love for you
