The Only Frances Steerling Poem Published Without Permission

ANONYMOUSLY ANOMALOUS

I am an anomaly
painted enamel
when everyone is oil-based

I am an anomaly
looking like an animal
when everyone is vegetable-faced

I am an anomaly
doing minimally
when everyone does the maximum

I am an anomaly
talking abominably
when everyone else is mum

I am a liar
but that breaks
the rhyme scheme

Do I make myself
perfectly unclear?
