A Handwritten Letter From 21-Year-Old Scott Fitzgerald

was the first cousin of
Winston Churchill.

the letter is very readable.
Shane Leslie was given
the manuscript of what became
Scott Fitzgerald's first novel
It was ultimately titled

As requested by Scott Fitzgerald,
Sir Shane Leslie,
(a friend of Tolstoi)
gave the 80+ page manuscript
to esteemed editor  Maxwell Perkins

Perkins responded most encouragingly
to Fitzgerald but rejected
"The Romantic Egoist"
(sic)

Two years later, a re-titled
—and expanded—
manuscript was accepted
for publication

Exactly one week after publication,
Scott Fitzgerald married Zelda Sayre
