ALBERT EINSTEIN Is Uncertain About The Universe

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Two things are infinite:

The universe and human stupidity

  And I'm not so sure

about the universe

To make a quatrain hopefully
requiring no bail

Before you can succeed,
you must know how to fail

Cobwebs And Third Eyes

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

When the aging process
cobwebs your youthful lust,
that is not a bust

You now sit
at the head of
a family table
and that's not sad

So many children
praise you call you
Dad

But somewhere from
the side of the table
you should be able

To use your third eye
to see what no one else
can see:

Hot-blooded and beautiful
let your fancy free

(Because no one else can see)
Her

Just you
and true is what
it be

The lover doesn't really exist:
it is not
adultery

© Tattooed To My Skull © Where No One But ME Can See Them

______________________________________________________________________________________________

Everyone has photographs—

family souvenirs—

that a branding iron

has impaled upon

their memories

For me, one such image

is the beach that caused

my father to work

his ass off so that

his family could have

a summer house

on the North Shore of Long Island

The second image was photographed

by my father or mother

with the other looking out the window

at our lawn in Whitestone,

our winter home

It features their fifteen-year-old son

and eighteen-year-old daughter

The latter had only ten more years

to live so that—fifty-six years hence—

the former could say

I love you Linda

and the same goes for your parents

Kiss them for me

That Hazy Summer Of '71 ... The HALFen With His Screwdriver

 ______________________________________________________________________________________________

My co-pilot

that summer

was a mayonaisse jar:

half-vodka

half orange juice

But I posed

with a beer can

because the photographer

had guzzled the quart

of homemade

screwdriver

My recently-widowed mother

was still alive

  I was half-way

to orphanhood
