Their State Of Emergency And Mine

The torrential rain
forecast for today
—January 5, 2023—
warranted the 
Governor of California
declaring

But my personal emergency
would have been
having 
no Starbucks Coffee
today

Therefore,
at 4:45 this morning,
I braved the elements
(the pre-torrential rain)
and got the caffeinated medicine
that neuters 
my anger and frustration

      I get what amounts to a normal amount of sleep
      BUT it is very discontinuous...
      Napping has been part of my lifestyle
      since 1971, many years prior to
      my Starbucks addiction
