Thanks to you, I read more Updike books than humans should be
ReplyDeleteallowed to read. That included The Poorhouse Fair,
an extraordinary first novel (and less than 140 pages).
I highlighted this quote which, by all rights, should be
within quotation marks because the words are spoken
by one of the old folks living in the Poorhouse.
It is my pleasure to corrupt your reading habits

but they can be a pain in the ass to include
or they can be a distraction
