Some Schools Invested Entire Year To Prepare For This Event

________________________________________________________________________________________________

My students did not win
a ribboned prize
but did get
"Honorable Mention"
when the prizes were awarded
for a Saturday indoor audience
at USC of at least
5000 people

However,
none of the titled projects
had more "legs"
than what our students did
with the Richard Berry project:
three years after their presentation,
the late great CATHY NADLER
(our liaison with History Day)
was still presenting it to very large
and very interested groups of teachers

  1. I am eternally indebted to the five students who presented
the RICHARD BERRY project... to Mr. Price, the administrator
who cheered them on... to Cathy Nadler for her tireless
    brilliance with the HUMANITAS PROGRAM

There is also eternal debt to Gina Lamb
who worked most directly with the students
    using information about Richard Berry
    which I was privy to

But the most eternal debt is to Roland Ganges,
the Humanitas teacher with whom I attended the event.
During the "lunch break" the students were on their own
and Roland treated me to a lunch at Margarita Jones

I ate a burger and drank five Margaritas...
when the awards were given and our students
received "Honorable Mention," I shrieked with
joy at such a high volume...everyone head
in the auditorium turned in my direction
