This page does not include a link to O Henry per se but it's link to the extraordinary FULL HOUSE movie includes the famous story starring a very young Marilyn Monroe and Charles Laughton: "The Cop and The Anthem."
But the story quoted on this page begins exactly the same way: a shabbily dressed person is sleeping on a park bench. HOWEVER, it it is the perfect companion story for "Cop/Anthem"
This sleeping form is actually an extremely wealthy man who has tired of high society and is determined to help those in need of finance and/or divine intervention
It would be more accurate if the middle of the quote read "on the ankles."
ReplyDeleteI agree it would be more accurate but this is a work of fiction
Deleteand "ankles" is a very weak sounding word
which is not true of the word "feet"
