In the middle
of this image,
there is a duck
who appears to be alone in the
Belmont Pool
Upon closer
inspection,
that is not
true
The black dot
below the first
two red banners
of the bunting
is none other
than me
It required
repeated
viewing
of this image
to make that
determination.
Repeated
viewing
of a much older photograph of a swimmer
yielded the same result
That is,
I looked at
a 1958 snapshot
of my sister
—post-swim—
half a gazillion times
before realizing
I was in the picture
Moments ago, I underlined
the black blur in the water.
It was Linda's little brother
in an inner tube.

CONCLUSION:
The next time I see a duck
either in the Belmont pool
or flying above it, I will say
Hello, Linda
The joy of doing so is that
Mr. CarPeo can harbor thoughts
of "another woman" without
Mrs. CarPeo getting jealous.
That explains why Mrs. C
is the smarter half
of our family.
