At the Universal Studio Church,
Reverend Stevie Buddly
gave his Sunday School students
a special assignment:
draw pictures of God
Universally respecting
Freedom of Religion,
Reverend Buddly expected
twenty children to draw
dramatically different images
After three hours
of Sunday School,
—using hundreds of crayons,
highlighters and Sharpies—
this proved to be true
However,
minutes after
the assignment began,
a boy named Fredo
was reading
a Superman Comic Book
"Fredo, you're supposed to be
drawing God,
why are you reading
a comic book?"
"Because I finished the assignemt"
and the boyturned over
the sheet of drawing paper
on his desk
It was a pencil-drawn
straight line
"God is a straight line,"
Fredo explained,
"that connects us
to our soul, to our community,
to our family, to each other.
What more do we need?"
Beginning the following Sunday,
Fredo say next to
Reverend Buddly
The seven-year-old boy
was now the
Pastor's assistant
