What The Ken Burns VIET NAM WAR Documentary Ignored

anywhere but this

VIET NAM WAR
documentary,
co-created by Ken Burns.

I could have selected
as many as forty-thousand
images of the war that,
indisputably,
the United States
LOST.

Everything you ever wanted
to know about
the Southeast Asian
conflict is within the ten-part
TWENTY HOUR
documentary.

That includes significant
interviews with
North Viet Nam soldiers,
i.e.,
the people our soldiers
were sent to kill.

The only thing missing
from this mind-numbing
must-watch series is
THE EXTENSION OF
THE VIET NAM MEMORIAL WALL

The Memorial Wall
in Washington DC
 lists the names
of more than 58,000 Americans
who died in Viet Nam.

The Wall was completed in 1982.

The United States of America's
involvement in the Viet Nam War
ended in 1973.

But an extension of
the Memorial wall should include
the name
Raymond H. Peterssen
who died on February 9, 2012.

Raymond, a Marine
—like his father—
was in Viet Nam
from 1969 through 1971.

For thirty-nine years after
the conflict ended,
Ray Peterssen's body
was poisoned by
Agent Orange,
the herbicidal perfume
that we sprayed
all over Viet Nam. 

The presence of Agent Orange
in Raymond's liver
finally killed him
in 2012.

I have yet to talk to
an American Viet Nam veteran
who does not know
a fellow veteran
who died under the same
delayed circumstances.

There are many, many other names
that can be added to
the extension of
The Viet Nam Memorial Wall.

If what I say is choice A ...
and I do not quit smoking next week,
then I am a liar.
