The BLOG Celebrates Its 100th Birthday

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Last year marked  the centenary of  World War I,  which began in 1914 and ended in 1918.

This year marks the centenary of the Blog, which is another name for a diary or journal.

Today,  a new blog  is created every half-second. New wars are not quite as frequent.

The blog was given birth by a nineteen-year old waitress at a summer resort
on Lake Erie but she called it a wog, as in "word-log."

We hereby submit some of its earliest pages.

Well, Woggs, we are destined
for a hard ride in life,
with many bumps and jumps,
but it will be a swift,
breathless ride and
we will arrive all the sooner.

So we may as well pull down our hats,
and hang on to our seats.
Dawn Powell

The next Dawn Powell page is  here.
