THE YOUNG LADIES
OF MISS MILLAND'S SCHOOL
Galloped back to
the riding academy.
Nurses wheeled toward the gates
perambulators whose size
and expensive unwieldiness
deliberately revealed the status
of their occupants.
Lost children ran through
the bushes screaming "Mama!"
Twilight lovers began to appear...
and in tranquil twos
selected benches for
their lovemaking,
a public park being
more private than
its alternative,
a family living room.
