This Is What Happens When You Stop Being Young

a wondrous science.
The medics can now
stretch your life out
an additional twenty years
but they don't tell you
that most of those years
are going to be spent
flat on your back
while some ghoul
with thick glasses
and a matted skull
peers at you through a machine
that's out of "Space Patrol."
