He sits in your room, his tomb,
with a fist full of tacks
Preoccupied with his vengeance
Cursing the dead that can’t answer him back
I’m sure that he has no intentions
Of looking your way, unless it’s to say
That he needs you to test his inventions

If a 1965 memory serves (or deceives):
Bob Dylan's original recording is here. |
with the 6-minute 45 RPM single
LIKE A ROLLING STONE,
Bob Dylan's follow-up single was
CAN YOU PLEASE CRAWL
OUT YOUR WINDOW
I loved the song then–and now–
but I do not think Dylan cared for it
because the song never appeared
in album form until 1978.
Did the sequence of those two singles
feel like having a Rolls Royce
for transport then having
only a single solitary
roller skate?
HOWEVER...
In 1967, Bob had to be eternally grateful
to Jimi Hendrix for covering PLEASE CRAWL...
The Hendrix recording is there. |
