And after forty-three years
as a California resident,
hardly an hour passes
without thoughts
about Rocky Point
and

I am intrigued by the map segment in this photograph:
ReplyDeletenaming the towns of Rocky Point and Shoreham.
The most distinguished resident of the former
was MARCONI, inventor of the wireless telegraph.
The most distinguished resident of the latter
was TESLA, who needs no introduction.
By now I am certain every resident of both towns
Deleteis proudly aware of those "residents."
The story that truly intrigues me involves
the Long Island Railroad that ran from New York City
to Port Jefferson:
It would make a "special run" without passengers
ten miles beyond Port Jefferson to Shoreham
for the sole purpose of delivering food
from the Waldorf Astoria to Nikoli Tesla
