on my side of town

on her Jeep dashboard
She was impressed
with this photograph
and, of course,
I asked if she knew
Glenda:
I would only know her
by her code name
...
Twelve of my ducks
were "gifted"

attend to
another customer
and could say no more
Further research
with an unnamed Jeepster
in the
500 Long Beach Boulevard
parking lot
enlightened me:
A "Ducker" is gifted
when someone leaves
a same-sized rubber duck
on the hood
of your vehicle
and it gets added
to your collection

She nodded
in the affirmative,
adding that her "club"
meets monthly
at a secret place,
using "coded names"
and expresing
lots of affection
All I could think was:
Maybe there is hope
