What Might Have Been Flushed Away ... Poem For Mr. Crapper

Mine is the gender
that leaves 
the toilet seat
up

The other is the gender
that galvanizes anger
because
we do not leave
the toilet seat
down 

BUT
the toilet seat
did not have to be
a touchstone
of the gender divide:
What if
 the other gender
simply put
the toilet seat
down
worldlessly 

What if
that other gender
gave simple solutions
a higher priority
than instant grief
???

What if all humans
gave simple solutions
a higher priority
than self-pity
???
this could be
