This is a preview
of a page long overdue
for anyone
interested in that thing called
Rock 'N Roll
:::
:::
The image
at the bottom
of this page
has a fixed position
—in the real world—
directly opposite
my indoor desk
I have worshipped
the image and
—more importantly—
RICHARD BERRY
(the man in the picture)
ever since
An extremely competent
Richard wrote a tune
in a calypso beat
called
Louie, Louie
Frank Sinatra
knew the song very well
(by a different title)
Frank sang
"One For My Baby"
It is not a calypso song
but the lyrics tell
the same story:
Frank's tale of woe
is directed at Joe,
as in
"set 'em up, Joe"
Richard's tale of woe
is directed at a
double-named barkeep:
"Louie, Louie"
For every person familiar
with Richard's calypso
saga about a lost love,
ten thousand people
are familiar with
the same song
sung by
a band known as
THE KINGSMEN
But
there is much much more
to this story
+
infinitely more to
RICHARD BERRY
concerning such people
as the Beatles, the Coasters,
Elvis Presley, Etta James
+
wedding music
heard 'round the world
