    Scott Fitzgerald is his favorite American author
    but he has never seen this quote before.

    1. That is sad but feasibly true:
      FSF wrote it for the film adaptation
      of Erich Maria Remarque's novel
      of the same name.

      The quote is from the first draft of the script
      and, unfortunately, may have been edited
      by the time the film was released.

      By my standards, I paid a shipload of money
      for this Scott Fitzgerald book and will have more
      to say about it soon.

      Hopefully, I will get to see the film before or after
      doing so. It starred Franchot Tone, Robert Taylor,
      Margaret Sullavan, and ROBERT YOUNG,
      long before he became synonumous
      with Father Knows Best
