The middle yellow star
in the image above
represents the saxophonist
who was off-stage
but his horn
gave gumption
to the Question Mark's
variation of Dylan's
Subterranean Homesick Blues
with a gangsta verse about
"Cruds and Blips"
The song was
co-written by
myself and drummer
Johnny Ray Scott
who doubled as
the Jefferson High School
Lawn Maintenance Department
Like bassist Coach Powell,
Johnny Ray refused compensation
for performing
Jan Garfinkel got $500
for also providing
sound system
but accepted only $300
for doing same at
the CARDELLA Concert
The saxophonist was
*** Randall Willis ***
whom I have described as
THE BEST TEACHER
AT JEFFERSON
He represented the entire
Music Department
of the faculty
But
first I must define
that bold description
©©©
The best teacher
is not the one
who knows the most
but that distinction
is determined
by the students
who do the most
with what they learn
from that teacher
©©©
The second star indicates
drummer Willie B____
who learned enough
from Willis
to become the touring drummer
for the comedian
The third star
indicates another Willis student
(name presently unavailable)
who has appeared in
at least two
world-famous
QED
Queen of Roses Parade
notwithstanding,
only the
"Best Teacher"
at Jefferson
+
Sinbad, the performer
