It began as the GODFATHER OF MATH, evolved into the GOODFATHER OF MATH. Now this. Go figure...

Construction Project

________________________________________________________________________________________________

You put an important word here
(HERE)
and an important word there
(THERE)

In a bowl,
mix verbs, adjectives, nouns...
(but no adverbs)

Stir constantly

Pour over the two words
(like a cheese sauce)

Add repetition with caution
or repeat yourself carefully
(whichever comes first)

But don't be a syllabully

Someone will call it a poem
(or not)

A Poem Found In The Norton Anthology Grabbed My Attention

________________________________________________________________________________________________

My attention is a wild
animal: it will if idle
make trouble where there
was no harm: it will
sniff and scratch at the
breath’s sills:
it will wind itself tight
around the pulse
or, undistracted by
verbal toys, pommel the
heart frantic: it will
pounce on a stalled riddle
and wrestle the mind numb:
attention, fierce animal
I cry, as it coughs in my
face, dislodges boulders
in my belly, lie down, be
still, have mercy, here
is song, coils of song, play
it out, run with it.

There But For Bronze

________________________________________________________________________________________________

ONE evening there came into his soul
the desire to fashion an image of
The Pleasure That Abideth For A Moment.

And he went forth into the world
to look for bronze.

For he could only think
in bronze.

But all the bronze of the whole world
had disappeared.

Nowhere in the whole world
was there any bronze to be found,
save only the bronze
of the image of
The Sorrow That Endureth For Ever.

Now this image he had himself,
and with his own hands, fashioned,
and had set it on the tomb
of the one thing
he had loved in life.

On the tomb of the dead thing
he had most loved
he  had set this image
 of his own fashioning,
that it might serve as a sign
of the love of man that dieth not,
and a symbol of the sorrow of man
that endureth for ever.

And in the whole world
there was no other bronze
save the bronze of this image.

And he took the image he had fashioned,
and set it in a great furnace,
and gave it to the fire.

And out of the bronze
of the image of
The Sorrow That Endureth For Ever
he fashioned an image of
The Pleasure That Abideth For A Moment.

The Vague But Beautiful Composite

________________________________________________________________________________________________

In the beginning,
when the world was young
there were a great many thoughts
but no such thing as truth.

Man made the truths himself
and each truth was a composite
of a great many vague thoughts.

All about in the world
were the truths
and they were all beautiful.

Return Of DJ-verio ... #571428 ...Beyond The Eyes Of Man

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Many a man has built his own temple
shown to convey his grace and skill
having red domes and pillars and arches
all fashioned to fit his will.

When over men observe its beauty
they stand and see and sigh and say
"Great is your work, oh yes, oh builder
your fame shall never fade away"

The 131st Bullet: From The Innermost Sanctum

________________________________________________________________________________________________

A prayer is nothing more
than a phone call
made from the cell phone
of our innermost sanctum.

Hopefully, it is a smart phone
and we do not say anything
too stupid.

But there might be hell to pay
if we dial the wrong number.
