The first photograph,

despite evidence

to the contrary,

is not Ricardo Montalban.

It is a copy

of a small photograph

that spent ten years

taped to a teacher's desk

in South-Central Los Angeles.

The teacher had to remove

a companion photograph

of his mother because

too many boys

approached the teacher's desk

distracted by her beauty.

Most of the girls

who looked at the image

of the teacher's father said

You look just like him,

Mr. Oliverio

How wrong they were
but how welcome
their words

His Death Made News On Both Sides Of The Atlantic Ocean

The 101-yr old man who was run over by a 90-yr old woman

died while crossing the street in front of his Burbank home

Otto Jensen's home was also his photography studio

The studio was where he photographed such A-list people as

Jayne Mansfield, Steve Allen, and Sammy Davis

He met Jayne Mansfield in 1968 when Richard Nixon

selected Otto to photograph a Burbank fund-raising dinner

On his 82nd birthday, he met Paul Oliverio

at the Burbank YMCA

When I wished Otto birthday greetings, he said,

In dyslexic years, I am only 28 years old

We became friends immediately and no one on this earth

ever taught me more about photography than Otto

But if any of this sounds familiar,

it is because The GodFather of Math

paid tribute to Otto Jensen

in 2012 and many times thereafter

I think of Otto every friggin' day

and recently re-discovered a bleached collage

of his postcard photography

Two other people I think of
every friggin' day
(plus every friggin' hour)
