It began as the GODFATHER OF MATH, evolved into the GOODFATHER OF MATH. Now this. Go figure...

–give me plain glass = JOHN FOWLES ... Music is the mathematics of the gods=PYTHAGORAS ... Nothing is more fluid than language = R. L. SWIHART
I cannot live without the oxygen of laughter = DAWN POWELL ... !!! ... But laughter cannot survive without the hydrogen of gravitas = PAUL OLIVERIO

When Books Mean Something More To Me Than ... Content

________________________________________________________________________________________________

is considered classic literature
but my attempt to read it
was a short-lived encounter
with what seemed like
pure jabberwocky

The only reason
I'm posting
this paperback copy
of Djuna's book
is because
it was designed by

At least four times a week,
Gilda is on the phone
with her life-long friend
(and fellow designer),
Mrs. CarPeo

At such time,
Mr. CarPeo
(aka, Paul Oliverio)
is thoroughly delighted
because for as much as
 four hours,
Mrs. CarPeo is
—most delightfully—
totally oblivious
to my presence
in our home
which
—all too often—
becomes
the exact opposite of
"Home Sweet Home"
but never is that
the case when
she is phone-chatting

  1. Did you have trouble with NIGHTWOOD because of the Lesbian love story?

    1. Absolutely not...It was the "free form" writing style
that I could not relate to at the time,
which was at least 40 yrs ago.

In all honesty, because I am now well-acquainted
with such stylized writing, I may attempt
      to read Ms. Barnes' opus
