A Hooda Helami Poem Entitled Shock + Awe

When you live in
the land of 
Shock and Awe
you are on
an emotional see-saw
that rises to
unseen heights
with constant fights
in your cosmic
boxing ring.
 
Every ounce of sincerity
morphs into 
pounds of dust
and all that you trust
is bleached with rust
every boom is a bust
warping your lust
 
It is not
a pretty thing.
