There are too many reasons to explain why it took so long and, unfortunately, none of those reasons have a modicum of intelligence but here is one:
The Texas Rangers have an extremely intelligent manager [Bruce Bochy] and the team's ownership is equally intelligent: spending salary money wisely on Big Star players complemented by other baseball players who knew exactly how to win.
However, I am a die-hard fan of their division rivals —the Los Angeles Angels—whose management and ownership is the diametric opposite of the Texas Rangers
But it should be noted that Shohei Otani jerseys outsold baseball jerseys bearing the name of any Texas Ranger
