People watch TV news programs
because they want to
keep informed and be aware of
current events
That paragraph is
so simple and common
it must be the truth
Right?
Yes
+
No
Superficially
it is 100% correct
but let us look
below the surface
Understand this simple reality:
the condition
of this world of ours
is devastatingly horrible
+
understand the German word
We now have
the swimming gear
to get beneath the surface
of why we watch
televison news
behind the locked doors
of our homes
There is joy in the fact
that however bad
our day was
the news will tell us
of someone/somewhere
who had it much worse
and it is no curse to think
"better them than us"
YES
our news programs do inform
HOWEVER
each news program
has many salaries to pay
plus executives
with noses buried in
the bottom line:
the newscasters
must succeed in
heightening our anxieties
so that we will
reach into our wallets
and find money
to spend
on this, that, or
the other thing
It doesn't matter
what we spend it on
because it is a proven
scientific fact
that the higher our anxieties,
the more freely
our money will
be spent
Unless, of course,
we never unlock our doors
and never go anywhere
