Imagine
a Broadway production
of The New Testament
where every reference to
"Jesus Christ"
is replaced with the name
"George Clooney"
who is the star of the show
And Clooney's influence
upon theater critics
is such that
none would dare
do anything
but praise
his performance
profusely
His influence
is such that no seat
would go unsold
and no ticket buyer
would dare
defy the critics
Thus becoming
the culturally
challenged
To a large portion
of the American public,
however,
the actual
New Testament
is sacred and classic
literature
Thankfully,
the premise
of this page is
imaginary
and George Clooney
is not that bold
(I hope)
But the word
"classic"
can easily be applied
to the silver screen
It would be
virtually impossible
for
Citizen Kane
+
Casablanca
to not be described
as "classic movies"
Meaning,
they exist to be
viewed, appreciated
and discussed
And never, ever
to be duplicated
in any way
shape or form
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD
starring Gregory Peck
is also a "classic movie"
However,
an un-imaginary man
with an ego bigger than
Mississippi
has challenged
the definition of
"classic movie"
His name is Adam Sorkin
and he has brought
To Kill A Mockingbird
to Broadway
so maybe we should pray
for
the culturally challenged
who buy tickets
to see the production
But not pray to hard
because those people
have very deep pockets
Happy Googling
to anyone
who reads this page
