is not spreading his arms
—eagle-like—
in celebration of
Rafael Nadal's defeat
in the second-round of
Nadal's loss did not occur
until hours after
this picture was taken
Tennis is said to be
an incomplete sport
when it comes
to photographing
a match
because there are two players
at opposite ends
of the court
and it is virtually
impossible
for them both
to be included
in the same photograph
However,
the look
of a single player
before, during, or after
stroking the ball
can be
quite stunning
and this image
is a classic example
"Rafa" Nadal is,
quite arguably,
the greatest tennis player
ever to exist on planet Earth
To understand the impact
of his winning twenty-two
tournaments,
just imagine
an American football team
winning twenty-two
Superbowls
If Novak Djokovic
wins the Australian Open,
he will have
three more opportunities
in 2023
to surpass
Rafa's world record of
Major titles
And the Serbian "Joker"
despite lacking
the universal love
and admiration
people have for
Rafael Nadal
may legitimately
become
the greatest tennis player
ever to set foot
on this planet
I personally hope
that is what happens
😊😊😊

I was never a tennis fan until my fiance had me watch
ReplyDeletethe French Open last year and now The Tennis Channel
is the default channel on our TV.
The Women's game is as exciting and intriguing and satisfying
as the men's game, if not more so.
The biggest shocker is this: despite only playing the game
for six months, I've developed a nasty backhand.
I now have posters of Coco Gauff, Rafa Nadal and Iga Swiatek
in the basement of my condo.
Good for you
DeleteThe commentators on TV Tennis are so articulate
ReplyDeleteand perceptive they make basketball and football
commentators sound like goobeldy-gook.
I wish I could disagree with you
Deletebut you are 100% correct.
Another incredibly valuable thing about
Tennis broadcasters is that they know
when to keep their mouths shut
